چکیده

Ensemble classifiers combine the classification results of several classifiers. Simple ensemble methods such as uniform averaging over a set of models usually provide an improvement over selecting the single best model. Usually probabilistic classifiers restrict the set of possible models that can be learnt in order to lower computational complexity costs. In these restricted spaces, where incorrect modelling assumptions are possibly made, uniform averaging sometimes performs even better than bayesian model averaging. Linear mixtures over sets of models provide an space that includes uniform averaging as a particular case. We develop two algorithms for learning maximum a posteriori weights for linear mixtures, based on expectation maximization and on constrained optimizition. We provide a nontrivial example of the utility of these two algorithms by applying them for one dependence estimators. We develop the conjugate distribution for one dependence estimators and empirically show that uniform averaging is clearly superior to BMA for this family of models. After that we empirically show that the maximum a posteriori linear mixture weights improve accuracy significantly over uniform aggregation.

Feature Selection for Ensembles of Simple Bayesian Classifiers

A popular method for creating an accurate classifier from a set of training data is to train several classifiers, and then to combine their predictions. The ensembles of simple Bayesian classifiers have traditionally not been a focus of research. However, the simple Bayesian classifier has much broader applicability than previously thought. Besides its high classification accuracy, it also has ...

Pruning GP-Based Classifier Ensembles by Bayesian Networks

Classifier ensemble techniques are effectively used to combine the responses provided by a set of classifiers. Classifier ensembles improve the performance of single classifier systems, even if a large number of classifiers is often required. This implies large memory requirements and slow speeds of classification, making their use critical in some applications. This problem can be reduced by s...

Bayesian Linear Combination of Neural Networks

Classifier ensembles have been one of the main topics of interest in the neural networks, machine learning and pattern recognition communities during the past fifteen years [21,28,16,17,26,36,27,23,11]. They are currently one of the state of the art techniques available for the design of classification systems and an effective option to the traditional approach based on the design of a single, ...
